How to Video-Call Your Grandkids on Zoom

Setup (One Time Only, 3 Minutes)

1. Open the app store (Play Store on Android, App Store on iPhone)
2. In the search bar at the top, type Zoom
3. Tap "Install" and wait for it to finish
4. Open Zoom and tap "Sign Up". Enter your email and choose a password

You Want to Call Your Grandchild

1. Open Zoom
2. Tap the "New Meeting" button
3. The camera will open and you\'ll see yourself. Tap "Invite" at the bottom
4. Choose WhatsApp from the list and send the link to your grandchild
5. When they click the link, the call connects

Your Grandchild Sent You a Link

1. Tap the blue link you received on WhatsApp
2. Zoom will open automatically
3. Tap "Join with Video"
4. If asked about microphone, tap "Allow"

Can\'t See? Can\'t Hear?

• Camera off: Look for a camera icon with a red line at the bottom of the screen and tap it
• Microphone off: Look for a microphone icon with a red line and tap it
• Can\'t hear the other person: Check that your phone volume isn\'t muted. Press the volume-up button on the side

Tips for a Great Call

• Sit in a well-lit spot. Light should be in front of you, not behind (otherwise you\'ll look like a silhouette)
• Lean your phone against a cup or book on a table, so you don\'t have to hold it
• Speak in a normal voice toward the phone. No need to shout
• If the call freezes, exit and tap the link again
