How to Make Text Bigger on Your Phone

Why Bother?

Small text causes eye strain, headaches, and tap errors. A simple font increase makes using your phone far more comfortable.

On Android (Samsung, Xiaomi, etc.)

  1. Open Settings (gear icon, usually on the home screen or app drawer)
  2. Scroll down and tap "Display"
  3. Tap "Font Size" (or "Text Size")
  4. Drag the slider right to make it bigger. You\'ll see the change immediately

Want everything bigger, including icons? Go back to Display and tap "Screen Zoom" or "Display Size". This enlarges everything on screen, including buttons and icons.

On iPhone

  1. Open Settings
  2. Tap "Display & Brightness"
  3. Tap "Text Size"
  4. Drag the slider right to make it bigger

Even bigger? Go to Settings \u{2192} Accessibility \u{2192} Display & Text Size and enable "Larger Accessibility Sizes". This unlocks a wider range of sizes.

Tip: Bold Text

On both Android and iPhone, you can enable Bold Text to make all letters thicker and more visible. The setting is in the same menu as font size.

Quick Zoom on Any Screen

In any app, place two fingers on the screen and spread them apart ("reverse pinch"). This zooms into whatever is displayed. Useful for reading small text in photos, for example.
