Microsoft Copilot: The Assistant on Your Computer
If you have a Windows 11 computer, you already have AI built in. Copilot is ready to use, no installation needed.
How to open it:
- Click the Copilot button in the taskbar, or press Windows + C
- Or go to copilot.microsoft.com in any browser
- Or open the Edge browser and find it in the sidebar
What you can do:
- Ask questions directly from your computer, without opening a browser
- Get help writing emails
- Create images for free
- Search for information with links to sources
Copilot also has a phone app ("Microsoft Copilot" in the App Store and Google Play).
Google Gemini: AI Inside Google
If you have a Gmail account, you already have access to Google Gemini.
How to open it:
- Go to gemini.google.com (sign in with your Google account)
- Or download the Google Gemini app from your phone\'s app store
- On newer Android phones, Gemini is replacing Google Assistant
What makes it special:
- In the paid version, it can read your Gmail emails and answer questions like "When is my next doctor appointment?"
- Helps write and edit documents in Google Docs
- Works in English well, and in Hebrew at a reasonable level
Main advantage: If you already use Gmail and Google, everything is connected. No new account needed.
Apple Intelligence: AI on iPhone
Apple added AI features directly into the iPhone. These work inside your existing apps, with no separate app to download.
Requirements: iPhone 15 Pro or newer, or any iPhone 16. Requires iOS 18.1 or later. Device language must be set to English to enable these features.
What it does:
- Notification summaries: Groups WhatsApp messages and emails into short summaries
- Writing Tools: In any text field, ask it to "proofread," "rewrite professionally," or "make shorter"
- Improved Siri: Better at understanding context and complex requests
- Clean Up in Photos: Remove unwanted objects from your photos
- Smart search in Photos: "Find the photo of my grandchild in the garden"
Limitation for non-English speakers: The device language must be English, which can be challenging for people who do not read English well.
Which Should You Choose?
You do not have to pick just one. Use them all for different things:
- Copilot for quick questions from your computer
- Gemini for help with emails and Google services
- Apple Intelligence for notification summaries and text correction
- ChatGPT when you need a detailed, smart assistant
The main point: they are all free. Try the one that is already on your device and see how it works for you.
